The Star of Africa, a pear shaped diamond weighing 530.20 carats is the second largest cut diamond in the world.
The Star of Africa is referred to as the Cullinan diamond, was found by Frederick Wells, surface manager of the Premier Diamond Mining Company in Cullinan, in what is today known as Gauteng, South Africa, the stone was named after Sir Thomas Cullinan, the owner of the diamond mine.
